Frequently Asked Questions about QL.Admin

What types of insurance products does QL.Admin administer?

The QL.Admin base system was built to accommodate several types of insurance products, namely traditional and interest sensitive whole life and universal life insurance, as well as term insurance, immediate and deferred annuities and pre-need burial plans.

If your company will use the Reinsurance module, then QL.Admin will also have the capability to handle all reinsurance administration.  This includes the billing and co-insurance allowances, along with all reinsurance reporting and valuation.

If your company will use the Health Claims module, then QL.Admin will handle major medical, dental and accident insurance, and the claims processing that goes with these unique insurance products.

Currently, QL.Admin is not programmed to handle disability and long term care insurance, variable life insurance products, or any kind of property/casualty insurance.

How many insurance policies can QL.Admin administer?

QL.Admin is the perfect solution for the small or medium-sized insurance company or fraternal benefit society.  Our largest client currently administers 350,000 individual and group policies, so go ahead and put QL.Admin to the test.

What are the additional system requirements?

If the company plans to go paperless and send agent statements via email, then DocuCom PDF Driver software (from Zeon Corporation) must be installed.  This software installs like a regular print driver which is then configured with the location and file naming conventions for the PDF files.  The DocuCom PDF Driver automatically creates and stores the PDF files without any user input.  The PDF files can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat or other PDF viewing software.

If your company's billing and premium notices will be printed with a bar code, a bar code scanner will be supplied to you at no cost.  The bar code scanner integrates with QL.Admin and allows premium billing and premium notices to be scanned so that policy and payment information is automatically posted to the system.

How long is the data conversion and implementation process?

While each company’s situation is unique, a typical conversion to the QL.Admin system can take a few weeks up to a couple months, depending on the complexity of your situation.  This process includes the initial evaluation of your current computing and data storage system, your processing and reporting needs, and confirming the business process improvements you seek.  Data is then exported from your system(s) and imported to the QL.Admin system.  Next we’ll go through a testing and valuation phase to ensure data integrity before allowing you to go live with new business processing.

What kind of initial software training is provided?

We will make two on-site office visits for training and education.  Additional office training sessions can be scheduled as needed for an additional fee.  We also offer an online user help guide that is continuously appended as the system is updated, as well as provide ongoing email and phone support.  Your staff will always have immediate access to our tech support team, and will get the assistance they need to succeed.

Can the QL.Admin system be customized for a specific business need?

Certain functions of your QL.Admin program can be modified to accommodate variations in commissions, billing, reporting or other processes that are unique to how your company does business.  If a requested modification is deemed to be beneficial for all users, Rudd and Wisdom will fully or partially cover the project cost.

How often is the QL.Admin software updated?

System modifications and code changes are implemented as needed, and are usually specific to each company’s version of the program.  The Rudd and Wisdom servers do a weekly automated update of the QL.Admin program for all companies, and each company decides how often to download and install their own updates.

How are the license fees structured?

The QL.Admin license fees are broken down into pieces, which helps your company keep software costs under control.  The QL.Admin base system, Health Claims Module and Reinsurance Module are all priced separately, meaning you don’t pay for software you don’t need.

There are also Per-User fees, and that means that a small insurance carrier rightfully pays less in fees than a larger carrier.  The monthly maintenance fee is a very small percentage of the total system cost, and entitles your staff to unlimited phone and email technical support.

There are no long term maintenance contracts either, leaving your company’s future capital available for other business needs.  Contact us at 512-346-1590 for a customized system estimate!
